The biggest surprise on the list is Darrington, who was projected to be one of the top two backs on the roster alongside De’Veon Smith. Darrington performed well for the Orlando Guardians last year and was the more versatile back. This leaves Dae Dae Hunter and Leddie Brown as the remaining backs, with Brown as the projected number two back.
Sam was put on the suspended list on Tuesday, making this move not too much of a surprise. While it is unknown why Sam was placed on the list, it now leaves him a free agent. The question is whether a team will sign him.
Mayden was seen in the open practice with some projected starters as a safety. The secondary for the Renegades is deep, so there was bound to be a surprise casualty. He should be able to land on another team in the future.
With the roster now at 50, the Renegades officially shift their focus to the regular season and their home game against the defending USFL champions Birmingham Stallions on March 30.
