Well, our hot streak was bound to end at some point. After a 13-4 run in strikeout props, we went 0-3 on Monday to start the week. No worries, let's bounce back with three K props for Tuesday's MLB slate.
Phillies vs. Reds, 6:40 p.m. ET
Cristopher Sanchez has been superb for the Philadelphia Phillies this season. The left-hander has a 2.95 ERA through four starts and has gone over 5.5 strikeouts in three of those four. He also ranks in the 80th percentile in chase rate and the 73rd percentile in strikeout rate. Now Sanchez gets to go up against a Cincinnati Reds lineup that ranks 27th in MLB in strikeout rate and 24th in chase contact rate. Sanchez struck out eight in his lone start against the Reds this season, and he has a 41.4 percent K rate against current Cincy hitters.
Astros vs. Cubs, 7:40 p.m. ET
Jordan Wicks has recorded at least five strikeouts in all four of his starts this season, but this is the day he comes back to earth. The Houston Astros have the lowest strikeout rate in MLB at 17.3 percent, and they've been crushing lefties all season. Houston is batting .277 as a team with a .789 OPS and an 18..4 percent strikeout rate against left-handers. Wicks hasn't made it past the fifth inning yet this year, and he likely won't against this lineup.
Diamondbacks vs. Cardinals, 7:45 p.m. ET
This number is simply too high. Steven Matz hasn't gone over 4.5 strikeouts in any of his four starts this season. He has the 11th-lowest K rate in MLB and ranks in the 13th percentile in whiff rate. The Arizona Diamondbacks have the lowest whiff rate and the highest zone contact rate in the league, and they have an impressive 17.1 percent strikeout rate against left-handers this season. Arizona also struck out only twice against Matz earlier this year.
